Pegasus Wellness Programs
Director of Personnel & Captain of Tri SISTEM
Karin started her athletic career early as a competitive swimmer in her native Sweden . Having the opportunity to later show off her fast fins in the pool and open water, she is now also known as the Swedish Fish.
Awarded a swim scholarship in Florida , she went on to become an 11 time All American before she called it quits and returned home to Sweden . When she showed up in New York with nothing but a backpack and an open mind, her 1 week vacation turned into a 12 year stay, during which she has tried her luck at acting and many random jobs before forging a career in Human Resources - because understanding people is what she does best.
When a friend asked her to do a triathlon in 2004 she agreed without thinking of how out of shape she was, but that turned out to be the best thing she ever did. Her instant success in the sport and the joy she felt to be back to her athletic self, not only inspired her to train more seriously for triathlons but also to enroll in the massage program at Swedish Institute, embarking on a career serving people’s wellbeing. Karin went on to great success in the sport while holding down a fulltime job and studying. She boasts an age group win from Escape from Alcatraz , a gold & silver in the Elite division at the NYC Triathlon, and a bronze medal at the Swedish National Championships among other accomplishments. She has been awarded All American USAT rankings for the last three years, and in 2006 she made top ten.
In 2008, Karin took some time off from racing to focus on building her Massage Therapy practice. She works extensively with athletes of all calibers and has had the good fortune to work with many elite runners from the NY Road Runners Club. She is certified as an Advanced
Sports Massage Therapist and provides invaluable assistance to SISTEM as a leader of one our athlete care response teams.
As a serious athlete herself, Karin finds it especially rewarding and interesting to work with other athletes both at the races and as part of their training regimen throughout the year and is excited to help SISTEM further build their athlete care program to be the best. And don’t think for a minute that she is giving up on triathlon. In fact she is hoping to cross the finish line of the Ironman in the next couple of years. Update: 7/25/10 Ironman Lake Placid 11:30:59. She is an Ironman!
